Brave Storybook Deluxe is a very good app. The only things holding it back from being a great app are its high price and slight crashiness (I tested it on the new iPad).
If you and your child felt a frisson of excitement every time you saw the “Brave” movie trailer over the past few months, you’ll probably really like it.
On the surface, this is a mildly interactive story that you can read aloud or follow along with. Obviously, it’s a wonderful and original story. The big bad bear is pretty scary, though. If you have a timid child, you may want to think twice about it.
Why we like it:
Many of the pages have hidden arrows to find and add to your quiver. There is also a horseback archery game called “Merida’s Challenge” and puzzles and coloring pages.
An excellent use of this app would be to familiarize your child with the movie’s story line in advance to make the big screen experience a little less intense.
A lot of parents would think this app was fine for kids 4 and up. I say 6 and up because I don’t like my kids sleeping in the big bed for months on end.
