Spikey’s Bounce Around is a fun, break out-style game in which kids launch a cute, spiky ball around a variety of bouncy environments trying to free the magic butterflies who are trapped in glass jars.
It can be hard to get the hang of it at first, but just like in the iconic mistake movie Groundhog Day, you can retry failed levels until you succeed.
Spikey sticks to wooden walls, but bounces off rubber walls. Kids will have to think strategically since they have a limited number of shots for each level. Great graphics and sound effects add a lot to an already fun experience.
This app gets difficult fast. There are 50 levels, but it’s pretty tough to get beyond level 11. Luckily you can replay previous levels to improve your score, or you’d be completely stuck. It would be nice to be able to skip levels and come back to them, but you can’t.
The Bottom Line:
A great app with some replay value for kids 6 and up, but probably too frustrating for younger kids (and impatient adults). Easily worth two bucks (though we got it for free during a recent weekend sale, so watch for those).
