tales2goTales2Go, an all-you-can-eat story app for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, is hands down the best educational app we’ve ever seen—it’s going to change the way families kill time.

No longer do parents have to browse and buy audio books one by one.   With a single touch they’ll have access to over 900 stories for kids aged 3-11, with more being added every day.

Why we like it:

Where to begin?  With the fact that these stories are instant, on demand, and unlimited, of course!  Kids (or parents) can browse by age, grade, story type, and storyteller.

They can also explore various characters and series such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Encyclopedia Brown, and Henry and Mudge.  Families who are new to the audio story scene can start with the Most Popular and Highest Rated stories and explore from there.

Since the stories are streamed, you might lose your connection if you’re not within range of 3G or WiFi.  This will rarely, if ever, be an issue for most families.  But if you’re planning a road trip across Death Valley, you’ll need to make other plans.

A game-changing app that’s going to introduce the pleasures of audio stories to a whole new audience at a price of less than a single unabridged audio book, Tales2Go is a slam dunk.

We just did a 5-hour road trip and my husband and I loved hearing our mostly silent kids giggling and eerily quiet for hours! There’s tons of variety–short stories of a few minutes to whole books. It’s like having a library streaming. Oh, and they’ve obviously picked the best readers–the kids were enraptured!

My sons ADORE this app. We listen to a story every morning at breakfast, and every evening in the bathtub, and in the car to and from school, etc. Can’t quite remember life before Tales2Go! :)

I’ll check out this app but also do a search for Giant Atom. I bought Icarus Swinebuckle a story for kids that is animated. But the best thing is that it has the book where the child can touch and hear the words. So it is great for reading.

This is a great app, however, the price is $12.99 a month, $24.99 for three months and $99.99 for a year.
