Around the World with Lilup is hands-down one of the prettiest apps we’ve ever seen.  The story is a simple one:  a big, fluffy cloud of a dog named Lilup is so fluffy that one day he just floats away.

Thus begins an around-the-world journey that makes stops in Canada, the Arctic, South America, Antarctica, Africa, and Europe where Lilup peacefully frolics on land and sea.

Why we like it:
Making Lilup play with polar bears, penguins, owls and lions on his trip whether he’s under the sea,  in the grass, or under the beautiful Aurora Borealis.   The absolutely gorgeous, peaceful illustrations.  The mellow background musical.

Parents can record the story in their voices, let the narrator do the work, or read along.  There are simple animations on almost every page.

The plot of the story is secondary to it’s prettiness, but so what?  Young kids will enjoy it anyway.  We’d like to see a few simple animal sound effects for this price.

When it comes to story apps, it isn’t easy for independent authors and illustrators to go up against some of the powerhouses in children’s publishing.  This one is an winner.
